Eight seasons into an F1 programme, this team desperately needs to show progression towards its goal. We saw it in 2005, but then followed a period of mediocrity. Last year the signs were promising again, and 2009 needs to be all about building on that - which means scoring that elusive race victory.

The new car has tested competitively, and Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock form a solid driver line-up. Big progress was made last year in tactical nous, while car development kept pace with the top teams. Inject some steely ambition into that mix and Toyota could be set to finally achieve.
